Arima Dial
About:
Mayor John Francis Wallen purchased The Dial from Nice, France in 1898. It was presented as a gift to the people of Arima in a time of increased civic pride. The colonial practice was to place a monument or clock or waterfountain in the centre of a town. In Arima, the Dial was placed in the centre of the Town at the intersection of Broadway and Woodford Streets. The Chimes of the clock and the ringing of the church bells gave the citizens a sense of time and a sense of belonging.
